Mission Statement
The Visual Arts affect every aspect of our daily life from the packaging of
our breakfast cereals right down to the logo on our sneakers. We use visual
language to communicate non-verbally with those around us. Our aesthetic choices
express something about us, express ourselves, our culture, and to learn of our
history. The art department provides a safe environment for all students to
learn about visual art in a sequential manner. Through your work in these
classes you will demonstrate a way of expression, communication, craftsmanship,
and an understanding of the history and aesthetics inherent in the arts.

Art Supplies
ART SUPPLIES are very costly. With recent budget crunches the art department has
found it beneficial for students to provide a few of their own supplies. We will
provide a few of the supplies for a minimal fee of $7. We are able to pass this
savings onto you because we buy these items in bulk. Some supplies can be
purchased through the Spirit Shop, while others can be acquired from recycled
items at your home. The supplies you will need will differ from class to class.
Your teacher will keep you up to date on what you will need throughout the year.
You will be given at least one week notice of supplies you will need to bring to
class.
