Today science plays an ever-increasing role in our lives since few decisions
are made without some consideration of science, technology, or the environment.
In the high school program, students are able to develop an understanding of
basic science concepts while sharpening their skills of observation and
interpretation of data. The nature of science and the relationship of science,
technology and society are also developed. The program is aimed at providing
every student with the opportunity to participate in the area of his/her
interest.
The graduation requirement of the state of Wisconsin specifies a minimum of
two credits of science instruction to include the biological and physical
sciences. This minimum requirement may be met by successful completion of
Physical Science and Biology.
Most colleges have a 3-year science requirement for entrance and/or
graduation. Students who neglect to take more than the minimum requirement often
find this to be a handicap as they pursue career opportunities after high
school.
